For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that kindness and care toward our parents are a precious opportunity to draw closer to Allah and enter Jannah. The khateeb urged us to make this a priority now, because we cannot assume we will have another year together. He explained that we should avoid even small expressions of irritation, speak generously, and care for our parents with humility and mercy as they grow older. He also reminded us to make dua for them and keep close ties with our wider family. For those whose parents have died, he offered hope: we can continue honoring them through prayer, charity, fulfilling their commitments, and showing kindness to their relatives and friends.
