Meet political pressure with faith and courage
“Your belief will determine your lifestyle.”
Muslims in Minnesota and America should answer fear and political pressure with faith, courage, unity, peaceful civic engagement, education, and service to protect their community and future generations.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- The Quranic account of Ibrahim asking how Allah gives life to the dead is used to discuss conviction and reassurance.
- Minnesota’s interfaith solidarity with Somali Muslims is presented as a historic defense of shared human dignity.
- Muslims are urged to reject fear, remain visible, pursue education, and prepare for civic leadership.
- Families should preserve Islamic identity, teach courage, and invest in children’s futures.
- The community is urged to thank allies, attend peaceful gatherings, offer condolences, and create scholarship support for Renee Nicole Good’s children.
In the khateeb's words
“Your belief will determine your lifestyle. Your belief will determine often your accomplishments in life. and your lack of belief is often the foundation of failure.”
“we as human beings have a shared destiny that is inescapable.”
“Nobody asks you to be violent. You don't have to be violent. Your weapon is your faith. Your strength is your unity.”
“But if you show them courage and conviction, faith and trust in Allah, you will inspire your children to pursue the greatest opportunities at this hour and far beyond.”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah says that strong faith should give Muslims courage, unity, and hope when fear surrounds them. The khateeb reminded us that many neighbors in Minnesota have stood with Muslim families, so we should thank them, be visible, and serve alongside them peacefully. He urged families to keep learning, study the Quran and history, prepare children for leadership, and protect their Islamic identity. He also asked the community to honor a woman who died defending others by offering condolences and supporting a scholarship for her children.
- What does courage look like when we are afraid?
- How can we thank someone who has helped our community?
- What is one way our family can serve or learn together this week?
