For the dinner table

The khutbah encouraged us to help the next generation know Allah through His vast mercy and love. The khateeb explained that Allah has given human beings the freedom to choose, so young people need practice making thoughtful and responsible decisions. Every choice has consequences, and each person will answer to Allah for what they do. He also asked us to distinguish between what we truly need and what we merely want. Finally, he reminded us that Islam recognizes our desires and gives us tools to guide and control them.

  1. Where did you notice Allah’s mercy in your life today?
  2. What is one choice you made today, and what consequence followed from it?
  3. What is something you want right now, and how is it different from something you need?
