Faith unites Muslims beyond race and wealth
“Support each other when your brother is down.”
A successful Muslim community is built by believers who support one another, promote good, oppose evil, establish worship, and unite through faith rather than ethnicity, language, wealth, or nationality.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Calls believers to taqwa and gratitude for Islam, faith, family, health, the Quran, and the Prophet’s example.
- Contrasts hypocrites who spread rumors, fitna, and evil with the believing community described in Surah At-Tawbah.
- Explains mutual protection and support through examples involving hardship, bereavement, Gaza, Sudan, and Muslims worldwide.
- Presents commanding good and forbidding evil through service, community-building, opposition to racism, and resistance to oppression.
- Argues that Muslim unity rests on faith and taqwa rather than language, skin color, nationality, wealth, or social status.
- Lists prayer, zakat, and obedience to Allah and His Messenger, urging listeners to ask what they contribute to the ummah.
- Concludes with reminders of Allah’s mercy and supplications for guidance, unity, families, protection, forgiveness, and Jannah.
In the khateeb's words
“believers they support each other when your brother is down your sister is down lift her hand up help them support each other be aware of our situations”
“so do not tell me why am I talking about Ghazza do not tell me why am I talking about Sudan because we're one body”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that a healthy Muslim community is built when believers care for and protect one another. We should help people in hardship, join good projects, and speak against injustice and harmful gossip. Our unity comes from faith and taqwa, not language, race, nationality, wealth, or social status. The speaker asks us to wake up from spiritual forgetfulness, worship Allah, give zakat, and ask what we can do for the wider ummah. He closes by asking Allah to guide, unite, protect, and forgive us.
- Who could use our support this week, and what could we do for them?
- How can we help people outside our own community?
- What is one good responsibility we can take on together?
