The dunya fades, so build your akhirah

“The wise people are those who leave the dunya before it leaves them.”

The khateeb, at 8:36

Excessive love of the temporary dunya weakens believers, so they should recognize its fleeting nature, long for Jannah, avoid comparison, and invest in the afterlife through worship and good character.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that this life is a temporary journey and that our lasting home is in the hereafter. He gave us three ways to loosen unhealthy attachment to worldly things: understand that they will pass, grow our love for Jannah, and stop comparing our possessions with those of people who have more. He encouraged us to appreciate blessings such as health, safety, and food for the day. Preparing for the hereafter means working hard at prayer, helping others, remembering Allah, and seeking His forgiveness. We can also build toward Jannah through everyday choices like leaving arguments, telling the truth even when joking, and improving our character.
