The Quran must be lived with Sunnah
“You cannot claim that you follow the Quran only and not follow the Sunnah because the Quran asks you to follow the Sunnah.”
The khutbah argues that the Quran is Allah's uncreated, clear, miraculous word, whose blessing is gained through understanding and practicing it alongside the Sunnah rather than treating it as a talisman or relying on hidden interpretations.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Brief mosque expansion donation announcement and request for prayers.
- Affirms that the Quran is Allah's word, conveyed through Jibreel to Muhammad.
- Explains that Quranic blessing comes through reflection, recitation, understanding, and practice, not amulets or talismans.
- Rejects hidden esoteric meanings and Quran-only beliefs, emphasizing the authority of the Sunnah.
- Presents the Quran's inimitability and critiques claims that a prayer equals the Quran thousands of times.
- Concludes with prayer and Quranic recitation.
In the khateeb's words
“The Quran is the word of Allah. Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Allah spoke those words. With a voice. Jibreel alayhi salam. Heard that voice. And reported to Muhammad.”
“You cannot claim that you follow the Quran only And not follow the sunnah Because the Quran asks you to follow the sunnah”
“If the jinn and ins all came together to bring something similar to Quran They won't be able to do it”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us that the Quran is Allah’s word and deserves our care and attention. The khateeb explained that its blessing comes through reading, reflecting, understanding, and putting its guidance into practice, rather than simply carrying or displaying it for protection. He described the Quran as clear guidance and rejected claims of special hidden messages reserved for certain people. He also emphasized that following the Quran includes following the Prophet’s sunnah, and spoke about the Quran’s unique, miraculous nature. The gathering included encouragement to give for Allah’s sake and to pray for the community’s expansion project.
