Faith must turn concern into action

“Iman requires a position, an action, and it is a responsibility upon each of us.”

The khateeb, at 10:07

In one sentence

Because believers are connected to the suffering of the wider Muslim community, iman must become sincere, capacity-appropriate action through responsibility, service, cooperation, and support for the oppressed.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Muslims should care when other people suffer, whether in Palestine, Sudan, or our own community. Feeling sad is not enough; our faith should lead us to helpful action. Allah does not ask one person to solve every problem, but He does ask each of us to care for the people and places entrusted to us. We can help through our time, money, skills, prayers, service, and support for people facing injustice. Even a small sincere action can become a means of great good.

  1. What is one way we can help someone outside our immediate family this week?
  2. How could one of our family members use their time, skills, or voice to benefit others?
  3. What good action could we repeat together instead of doing only once?
