The Quran changes lives when followed
“The ultimate jihad in Islam is by knowledge, by the Quran.”
The khutbah argues that the Quran is Islam's enduring miracle and Muslims can change their reality by following and conveying its guidance, while redirecting emotional loyalty away from commercial sports and worldly standards toward faith, family, community, and service.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Contrasts the saving miracles of earlier prophets with the Quran as Muhammad's continuing miracle.
- Uses Surah al-Furqan's rain imagery to present the Quran as divine guidance Muslims must carry forward.
- Defines true success as obedience to Allah and the Prophet and entry into Jannah, not worldly achievement.
- Critiques excessive World Cup fandom, commercialization, nationalism, and externally imposed measures of worth.
- Urges families to honor prophetic companions, parents, caregiving, motherhood, and halal provision.
- Connects sports spectacle and media framing to double standards over Gaza, then calls for redirecting emotions toward Islam and the Ummah.
- Closes with supplication and announcements for family events and halaqas.
In the khateeb's words
“But what I have given was a revelation revealed to me from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. So I hope that I will have the greatest number of followers on a day of judgment.”
“The ultimate jihad in Islam is by knowledge, by the Quran.”
“Teach your kids that the heroes are your parents. The mothers who are raising up our children upon faith and iman and Islam and care about them, care about their lunchbox in the morning, wake them up for school, take care of their homework.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that the Qur’an is the lasting miracle of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and a source of guidance that can transform people. He encouraged us to begin change within ourselves and to carry the Qur’an’s message through knowledge, character, and action. He also warned against giving sports, fame, money, or public opinion more emotional energy than they deserve. True success, he explained, is found in obeying Allah and His Messenger in this life and reaching Jannah in the next. He asked families to honor the quiet heroes among them, especially parents who nurture faith, care for children, and earn halal income.
