Gratitude turns blessings into lasting good

“If we respond to that challenge, then that challenge becomes a means of reward from Allah.”

The khateeb, at 28:14

For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that health, safety, family, and personal abilities are gifts from Allah. Gratitude is more than saying alhamdulillah: we show it by helping the mosque, serving people, and using our time, wealth, knowledge, and talents for good. We should represent Islam through wisdom, good advice, learning, teaching, and beautiful character. When life brings sadness or hardship, patience does not require us to hide our feelings; it means directing our emotions and complaints to Allah in the right way. As a family, we can choose one blessing to turn into service this week.

  1. What is one talent or blessing you could use to help someone this week?
  2. What does healthy patience look like when you feel angry or sad?
  3. How can our family help our mosque or wider community?
