Do not trade guidance for worldly gain
In one sentence
A person must not trade Allah's guidance and forgiveness for temporary worldly desires, because knowledge without obedience leads to punishment; remembering the final outcome should prompt repentance and action.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“it's very important before you do any transaction before you give up what valuable things that you have you have to think of the result”
“if you've been granted everything but those think of that that Allah gave you everything but not guidance and not forgiveness so what you gain nothing”
“the person of pure knowledge but he neglected he might be in the hill fire before the worshipper of the idols because that's one of the worst crime”
“pain and pleasure there are two things that might motivate you to change your current situation to get out of your comfortable zone to do something positive”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The speaker explains that Allah's verse compares our moral choices to a business transaction. Temporary pleasure is a poor bargain if it costs us guidance now and forgiveness in the Hereafter. Knowledge is valuable only when we act on it, because desire can pull even knowledgeable people away from what they know is right. Remembering painful consequences and lasting reward can help us leave our comfort zones, correct ourselves, and ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness.
- What is one choice where thinking about the long-term result could help you?
- What is something good you know that you can practice this week?
- What reward or consequence helps motivate you to make a positive change?
