For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that Allah created us with a purpose: to worship Him and prepare for our return to Him. Worship reaches into everyday life through our choices and obedience to Allah. Our families, work, homes, and possessions can help us prepare for the hereafter when we use them well. He compared us to travelers who keep their destination in mind while passing through this world. Instead of getting caught up in what others own, he encouraged us to seek Allah's pleasure through generosity, learning, and sharing useful knowledge. He ended by asking Allah to help us draw closer to Him with every moment of our lives.

  1. How could something you do at school or home tomorrow help you become closer to Allah?
  2. If life is like a journey toward Jannah, what helps you remember where you are going?
  3. Whose generosity or useful knowledge inspires you, and what could you learn from them?
