Thank Allah by protecting your faith
“How much have we invested in our Islam?”
Islam is Allah’s greatest blessing, so believers must actively protect it through gratitude, dua, obedience, mosque attendance, and investment in Islamic learning.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Prophetic stories and supplications teach believers to ask Allah for steadfast Islam.
- Islam provides eternal salvation, purpose, and comprehensive guidance, but faith must be protected during trials.
- Believers should avoid compromising environments, friends, and influences while investing in their own and their children's religious education.
- Regular prayer in the masjid and use of local mosques and madaris help preserve faith.
- The second khutbah reinforces tawhid, taqwa, Sunnah, and obedience to Allah and His Messenger.
- Announcements and supplications address community programs, suffering Muslims, the sick, and the deceased.
In the khateeb's words
“If you value something, you value the ability to defend yourself, Then He will send your child to Taekwondo classes, to various different martial arts classes.”
“So then we ought to ask ourselves, how much have we invested in our deen How much have we invested in our Islam?”
“Let us do our best to perform salah in the masajid.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that faith is a precious blessing from Allah that deserves our gratitude and care. He shared how Ibrahim prayed for himself and his descendants to be Muslims, and how Yusuf asked to die in submission to Allah and join the righteous. These examples encourage us to ask Allah regularly to preserve our faith and help us live by His guidance. Just as we put effort into education and other things we value, we should make time for our own religious learning and our children’s faith. He also encouraged us to protect our salah and make use of the masajid and Islamic learning opportunities around us.
- What is one thing about your faith that you feel thankful for today?
- What dua would you like us to make together for our family?
- What could help us make more time for prayer and learning about Islam this week?
