For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah used the story of Talut and Dawud to teach us about leadership, self-restraint, and trusting Allah. The khateeb reminded us that good leadership rests on ability and taqwa, being mindful of Allah, rather than wealth or family background. He described the test at the river and encouraged us to think about the everyday choices that test our own discipline. He also highlighted how the believers asked Allah for patience and firmness before asking for victory. As a family, we can encourage one another to practice restraint, stay steady through difficulties, and trust Allah while using the abilities we have.

  1. What is one situation where you could practice more self-restraint this week?
  2. What makes someone a good leader among your friends?
  3. When something feels difficult, what could help you stay patient and keep trying?
