Use every blessing before judgment

“How is it possible that our wasted time is outweighing the time of our worship?”

The khateeb, at 11:03

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that life can end suddenly, and every person will return to Allah to answer for what they did. Allah’s gifts, time, money, intelligence, health, skills, and influence, are responsibilities, not just comforts. The speaker urges us to examine our days, reduce waste, keep learning and worshipping, and use our careers and resources to help the community. Hardship and wealth are both tests, so we should not assume comfort means Allah is more pleased with us. We can begin by asking what Allah has given us and how we can use it for good this week.

  1. What is one gift Allah has given you that you could use to help someone else?
  2. Where does your time go each day, and what would you like to change?
  3. How could your future work benefit your faith and your community?
