“How much you sacrifice your sleep to wake up in the middle of the night?”

The khateeb, at 7:40

For the dinner table

The khutbah taught that Allah distributes health, time, life, guidance, and faith with wisdom, and none of these blessings is guaranteed. Because life and iman can change, we should not postpone gratitude until Ramadan or until something is taken away. We can show gratitude through prayer, Quran, qiyam, charity, gentleness, and noticing the blessings we have today. The speaker encouraged us to examine our iman honestly and ask what we are doing now to thank Allah. As a family, we can practice gratitude for our time, health, and iman while helping one another stay attentive rather than distracted by the dunya.

  1. What is one blessing you might be treating as guaranteed?
  2. What is one small way you can show gratitude to Allah this week?
  3. Which is harder for you: sacrificing sleep, money, or ego, and why?
