For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that our time in this life is limited, and that remembering death can help us live more thoughtfully now. The khateeb encouraged us to look honestly at our prayers, our treatment of others, and how we honor our parents. He reminded us that we will each answer to Allah for our own choices, and that our deeds stay with us when our wealth and family cannot. He also spoke about the good that can continue after someone dies through charity, knowledge that helps others, and a righteous child's dua. As a family, we can take this reminder to heart by seeking Allah's forgiveness, caring for people, and making room for good deeds each day.

  1. What is one kind thing you could do for a parent, neighbor, or friend this week?
  2. What useful thing could you teach someone that might keep helping them?
  3. Who would you like to make dua for tonight, and what would you ask Allah to grant them?
