Give sacred worship your full attention

“Whatever the dunya is offering you during the time of Jum'ah, none of it is worth anything.”

The khateeb, at 8:01

In one sentence

Jumu'ah is a uniquely valuable act of worship whose full rewards require attentive listening, proper preparation, respectful mosque etiquette, and intentional Friday practices.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. The khutbah and Jumu'ah prayer are sacred remembrance requiring silence and leaving business.
  2. Friday has exceptional status, and attentive attendance brings forgiveness between Fridays plus three days.
  3. Friday includes a special period for answered supplication and an opportunity to recite Surah al-Kahf for spiritual light.
  4. Worshippers should prepare with wudu, ghusl, cleanliness, perfume, early arrival, and orderly seating.
  5. During the khutbah, people should remain silent, avoid disturbing others, and ensure children are settled.
  6. Worshippers should pray tahiyyatul masjid and recommended sunnah prayers after Jumu'ah, then seize Allah's broader opportunities for forgiveness.
