For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to use five blessings well before they pass: youth, health, wealth, free time, and life itself. He urged us to begin growing closer to Allah now instead of assuming we can wait until we are older. His story about a wealthy man who could not enjoy his food reminded us how precious health is. He explained that righteousness includes feeling other people's pain and helping them with what Allah has given us. We do not have to be perfect, but each day can include learning something, helping someone, and strengthening our faith. He encouraged families to put away their devices at dinner and spend a few minutes discussing an ayah or hadith so that the Qur'an shapes how we speak and treat others.

  1. What is one blessing you enjoyed today, and how could you use it to do something good?
  2. Who might need a little kindness or help from us this week?
  3. What ayah or hadith would you like us to learn about together?
