For the dinner table

Allah created us to worship Him, and worship includes both formal acts and the everyday choices we make according to His guidance. The khutbah encourages us to start with the essentials: sound faith, the five prayers, zakat when due, Ramadan fasting, and Hajj when required. We should not feel defeated by an all-or-nothing approach; we should make our obligations strong before adding optional deeds. Optional worship can then bring us closer to Allah and help our senses and choices become guided. Since Sha'ban comes before Ramadan, we can practice by fasting some days, reading Qur'an, praying, and remembering Allah.

  1. What everyday action could we turn into worship by following Allah’s guidance?
  2. Which part of our Ramadan preparation can we begin practicing this week?
  3. Why is it helpful to focus on obligations before adding optional deeds?
