Small acts for Gaza are never wasted
“Don't belittle the good that you are capable of doing.”
Small acts of faith, solidarity, advocacy, and care are never wasted by Allah, so believers must persist even when immediate results are invisible.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Responds to Gaza’s communications blackout with prayer, hope, and trust in Allah.
- Imagines the courage of doctors serving patients amid bombardment and asks what their efforts mean.
- Uses Quranic teachings on patience and the value of every atom of good.
- Applies the lesson to advocacy, education, protest, caregiving, feeding, and supporting captives.
- Draws strength from Gaza’s medical workers, journalist Wa'il, Ibn Taymiyyah, and Imam Jamil Amin.
- Calls listeners to resist despair, continue collective action and dua, and closes with prayers for Palestine and the oppressed.
In the khateeb's words
“Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala may put something in your small effort that has major impact”
“don't belittle the good that you are capable of doing”
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminds us that Allah does not waste any sincere effort, even when we cannot see its results right away. The speaker asks us to remember the doctors, journalists, and families in Gaza who continue serving others through terrible hardship. We should not dismiss small acts such as making dua, educating someone, speaking up, or caring for a person in need. Allah controls the outcome, but He asks us to keep choosing patience, courage, and goodness. Our family can respond to suffering by staying compassionate and taking whatever helpful action is within our reach.
- What small good deed could make a difference to someone this week?
- How can our family show care when we cannot solve someone’s whole problem?
- What helps you keep going when you do not see immediate results?
