For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that our actions matter both during our lives and through what we leave behind. Even a tiny charity given for Allah's sake can grow into a great reward through His generosity. The khateeb taught that Islam and iman are the foundation for deeds to be accepted and rewarded in the hereafter, and encouraged us to be thankful for that gift. He reminded us that Allah is just, even when hardship makes us compare our lives with other people's lives. He also explained that being a good Muslim includes room for halal enjoyment, and that our gratitude and faith should show in the good we do.

  1. What small act of generosity could you do this week with what you already have?
  2. What could our family start that would keep helping others over time?
  3. How could you show gratitude to Allah through your actions tomorrow?
