Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Real strength is not making others afraid; it is controlling ourselves when anger rises. The khutbah asks us to notice whether our families feel tense or comforted when we come home, and to bring them our attention rather than our exhaustion and phone. We can pause and be silent when angry, greet our homes with salam, and choose gentleness and service. The Prophet's example shows that love is patient, present, and given because people are worthy of it. Peace in our homes becomes the foundation for a healthier community.

  1. When do people at home feel happiest to see you, and how can you help create that feeling?
  2. What is one way to pause before speaking when you feel angry?
  3. What does giving someone your full attention look like tonight?
