For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that telling the truth helps protect people’s rights and uphold justice. When we give testimony, we should do it for Allah, without letting friendship, family ties, or dislike change what we say. The khateeb warned that false testimony and hiding testimony are serious sins that affect our hearts. He also reminded us to have the courage to admit when we have done something wrong ourselves. As a family, we can practice honesty, fairness, and taking responsibility, remembering that Allah sees what we do.

  1. How could you tell the truth about something a friend did while still treating them kindly?
  2. What helps you be fair to someone you are upset with?
  3. What would help you feel ready to say, “I did that,” after making a mistake?
