Do good before death leaves no time

“Ya Allah, give me some more time so that I can give away some of this wealth.”

The khateeb, at 11:06

Because worldly competition distracts us from the certainty of death and the hereafter, we must act now by prioritizing worship, charity, and righteous family life rather than postponing good deeds.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that this life is temporary and that we are here to worship Allah and prepare for the hereafter. Earning a living and caring for our families are good, but they should not distract us from remembering Him. The khateeb explained that our deeds remain with us after death, so we should make time for good actions and give charity without always waiting for later. He encouraged us to develop yaqeen, a certainty that changes how we live. As a family, we can help one another pray, learn the Quran, attend the masjid, and use our blessings well while asking Allah for His mercy and forgiveness.

  1. What is one good thing you could do today that you have been saving for later?
  2. How could you use something you know or do well to help someone this week?
  3. What could our family do together to remember Allah more often?
