For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminds us that societies and families do not usually fall apart all at once. They weaken when wrongdoing becomes normal, good people stay silent, and greed, envy, and love of worldly success take over the heart. The speaker used the image of a ship: everyone shares responsibility for stopping a hole before it harms all. We should protect our faith, practice justice and mercy, speak up wisely against wrong, and use our blessings without letting them control us. Each of us can ask whether we are repairing the ship or making the hole bigger.

  1. What is one small “hole” in a community that people should help repair?
  2. How can we enjoy blessings without letting them control our hearts?
  3. What is one way you can help make your family or community stronger this week?
