For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah gives us many opportunities to draw close to Him, including our daily prayers and Jumu'ah. The khateeb encouraged us to begin with our obligatory duties and stay away from what Allah forbids, making those foundations firm. Then we can add devotional acts, such as dua, Quran recitation, and optional prayer, according to what we can manage. He reminded us to remain hopeful and consistent instead of giving up because our efforts feel too small. He also encouraged us to ask Allah for help even after making mistakes, and to begin and end our duas with praise of Allah and prayers upon the Prophet Muhammad.
