Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that parents have a place in our lives that no one else can replace. Allah calls us to treat them with ihsan: excellent care, gentle speech, humility, and patience, especially as they grow older. Even when we cannot obey a parent in something wrong, we should continue to speak and act with kindness and respect. Serving parents can bring Allah's pleasure, forgiveness, blessing, and their heartfelt du'as, while praying for them remains important after they pass away. The khateeb also reminded parents to learn and fulfill the rights of their children so that love and responsibility grow throughout the family.
