Islam shapes every part of life
“Islam is a complete way of life.”
Islam is a divinely prescribed, complete way of life whose objectives protect life, religion, the mind, wealth, and family, while its pillars train believers to live closer to Allah.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- The congregation is reminded that Friday gatherings and Quranic and Prophetic reminders strengthen faith and connection to Allah.
- Community announcements cover the annual dinner and masjid support, senior programming, parking access, and prayers for elders.
- It identifies five objectives of shariah: protecting life, religion, mind, wealth, and family.
- It explains iman as the basis for practicing this methodology and presents salah, zakah, fasting, and Hajj as its exercises.
- The closing applications emphasize prayer's moral effect, charity as proof of faith, communal responsibility, and care for oppressed and suffering people.
- Final announcements renew fundraising and senior-program reminders, ask listeners to thank supportive MPs, and lead into prayers for the sick, deceased, and wider ummah.
In the khateeb's words
“Islam is a complete way of life. Islam has its own way to help you and help me to live as Muslim and die as Muslim.”
“In Islam, I'm telling you up front, there is no way you will find a conflict between Islam and facts, between Islam and science.”
“The first goal of Islam is to protect what? Life. Be confident.”
“You're standing in front of Allah. You're speaking to Allah and Allah speaking to you.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb explained that Islam gives us a way of life from Allah, with Prophet Muhammad as our teacher. He described five things its guidance seeks to protect: life, religion, our minds, our wealth, and our families. He encouraged us to understand worship deeply: prayer reminds us that we stand before Allah, charity turns our care into action, fasting trains self-control, and Hajj expresses our unity. He also urged us to support our masjid and contribute to the community where we live. As a family, we can choose one small way this week to put these lessons into practice and grow closer to Allah.
- How could remembering your next prayer help you make a kind or honest choice today?
- What is one way our family could help someone at the masjid this week?
- What does fasting teach you about handling something you really want?
