For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah gives certain times special importance, including the month of Muharram and the day of Ashura. The khateeb retold how Musa trusted Allah when the sea was ahead of him and Pharaoh’s army was behind him, and how Allah brought Musa and his people to safety. He encouraged fasting on Ashura with an additional day, connecting this worship with gratitude for that deliverance and the hope of forgiveness. Pharaoh’s story also reminded us not to keep putting off turning back to Allah. The khateeb closed with encouragement to show generosity to our families, giving us something practical to reflect on together.

  1. What part of Musa’s story helps you when something feels difficult?
  2. What blessing would you like to thank Allah for today, and how could you show that gratitude?
  3. What little extra kindness would make someone in our family feel cared for?
