Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that this life is short and that our lasting home is in the hereafter. He compared us to travelers, encouraging us to think about what we are preparing for our destination. Remembering death is meant to help us live with purpose, not to make us depressed or stop living. We can respond by turning back to Allah, praying on time, giving charity, and treating our parents and relatives well. While we have the opportunity, we can ask forgiveness for harm we have caused and try to repair relationships to the best of our ability.

  1. If good deeds were supplies for a journey, what would you want to pack today?
  2. What is one way you could show appreciation to a parent or caregiver this week?
  3. What good thing have you been putting off that you could begin tomorrow?
