For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that our hearts matter deeply when we worship Allah. People can stand beside each other and make the same movements in prayer, yet differ greatly in their devotion and attachment to Him. The khateeb used the account of the card outweighing sins to emphasize the value of pure Tawheed, worshipping Allah alone. He encouraged us to strengthen that devotion and make our hearts more attached to Allah. He also explained his guidance about voluntary prayers around Jumu’ah and ended by asking Allah to help us act on the good we hear.

  1. What helps you pay attention to Allah when you pray?
