Every blessing comes from Allah

“Whatever you have, Wallahi, you better believe that comes from Allah.”

The khateeb, at 26:10

In one sentence

Worldly blessings come from Allah and can disappear instantly, so believers should remain humble, remember Allah, and use MashaAllah, Inshallah, and Ameen appropriately.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Recites and introduces the second story of Surah al-Kahf, about two men and their gardens.
  2. Explains that the Prophet was commanded not to turn away from poor believers to please wealthy people.
  3. Shows how the wealthy man’s confidence in his gardens and status became arrogance and disbelief.
  4. Connects the parable to storm damage and Qarun’s downfall, warning against attributing blessings to personal power or knowledge.
  5. Explains that MashaAllah is for appreciating present blessings, Inshallah for future plans, and Ameen in supplication.
  6. Closes with prayers for guidance, blessing, and steadfastness.
Try this week
Say MashaAllah when appreciating a blessing or something admirable.
Say Inshallah when discussing plans for the future.
Say Ameen when asking Allah to accept a supplication.
Practice humility by remembering that every blessing comes from Allah.
Ask Allah for blessings suited to you rather than wishing to become like another person.
