Creation points to the Quran's divine origin
“Killing one person, one innocent person, is life-giving to humanity.”
By reflecting on Allah as the Creator and the Quran's signs in creation, believers should trust revelation, value every innocent life, and pray for relief for the oppressed in Palestine.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces Allah as al-Khaliq and explains related divine names of creation.
- Uses Quranic embryology to present Allah's creative power and the Quran's scientific signs.
- Surveys Quranic descriptions of cosmic creation, water, the throne, the joined heavens and earth, and the expanding universe.
- Argues that the Prophet's illiteracy supports the Quran's divine origin.
- Applies the sanctity of human life to the suffering of Palestinians.
- Concludes with prayers for Palestinian relief, necessities, and justice against oppressors.
In the khateeb's words
“He gave him the Quran. as everlasting miracles for humanity. to guide them to the right path.”
“killing one person, one innocent person, is life-giving to humanity.”
“We ask you to expedite the rescue. and to provide them with what they need of food, water, shelter, and medicine.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us that Allah is al-Khaliq, the Creator, whose power can be seen throughout the universe and in human life. The speaker encouraged us to learn the Quran, share its knowledge with our children and communities, and help others understand its guidance. Every innocent life is precious, and harming one person is treated as a grave offense against humanity. The sermon connected this teaching to the suffering of Palestinians and ended by asking Allah to provide them safety, food, water, shelter, medicine, and relief. We can respond by learning, teaching, praying, and showing compassion.
- What part of creation makes you especially grateful to Allah?
- What is one Quran lesson you could share with someone younger this week?
- How can our family show care for people who are suffering?
