Trust Allah and take responsibility
“Put your trust in the hands of Allah, accept the outcome, but then do that self assessment to learn your lessons and accept responsibility.”
A believer should combine sincere effort and trust in Allah with honest self-accountability, while serving and protecting the community.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Opens with praise of Allah, testimony, blessings on the Prophet, and calls to taqwa.
- Urges listeners to take action, trust Allah with outcomes, learn lessons, and accept responsibility.
- Recites Qur'anic passages contrasting good and harmful words and reminding listeners of accountability.
- Announces Salam Nikah, mosque donations, a volunteer meeting, and a grounds cleanup.
- Shares local bias-incident statistics and urges early reporting and de-escalation.
- Encourages domestic-violence victims to call police without fearing immigration enforcement.
- Points listeners toward Justice for All resources concerning Palestine, Rohingya, Kashmir, and other crises.
In the khateeb's words
“do everything you can put your trust in the hands of Allah accept the outcome but then do that self assessment to learn your lessons and accept responsibility for what happened to you”
“they would rather prevent crimes or de-escalate situations than wait until something bad has happened”
“especially regarding domestic violence issues they say to call the police get them involved”
“even if you just show up for an hour it makes a lot of change so please if you have time to donate please come tomorrow and join us inshallah”
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminds us to work hard, trust Allah, and honestly learn from whatever happens. The Qur'anic passages also remind us that our words matter and that we will answer to Allah. We were encouraged to report dangerous or troubling situations early and to seek police help in cases of domestic violence. The mosque also invited everyone to volunteer, help clean the grounds, donate, and learn about humanitarian service. Small acts of time, courage, and care can strengthen the whole community.
- What is one thing you can prepare for this week while still trusting Allah?
- How could we help someone feel safer asking for help?
- What small job could our family do for the mosque or neighborhood?
