Treat the masjid as a sacred house

“The masjid should remind us of the akhira.”

Jumu'ah worship is honored by treating the masjid as a sacred house of Allah: arrive early and calmly, follow its recommended etiquettes, care for the space, and avoid distracting others.

For the dinner table

Jumu'ah is not only the prayer itself; it is also a chance to honor the masjid, the house of Allah. We can prepare by bathing, dressing well, arriving early, walking calmly, and sitting as close to the front as possible. Inside, we should pray Tahiyyatul Masjid, use the waiting time for dua, dhikr, or Quran, and help keep the masjid clean. We should avoid selling, loud or distracting conversation, strong smells, climbing over people's shoulders, and unnecessary worldly talk. When leaving, we ask Allah for His favor and carry the masjid's reminder of the Hereafter with us.

  1. What is one way we can help the masjid feel peaceful for everyone?
  2. What could we do before Jumu'ah to arrive calmly and prepared?
  3. Why might Allah value quiet, unseen service like cleaning?
