Trust the Quran over worldly measures
“Every moment on the face of the earth, someone is opening this Qur'an al-Azim and reading it.”
Believers should trust the Qur'an's divine truth, submit to Allah rather than worldly measures of success, and remain steadfast in worship and communal service despite opposition.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Uses Surah Hud to frame the Prophet's stress under rejection and remind him that his role is to warn.
- Explains the Qur'an's challenge to produce comparable surahs as evidence of revelation.
- Contrasts worldly success with the loss of the Hereafter and calls for submission.
- Warns against obstructing or mocking Islam and assures listeners Allah sees opposition.
- Defines Muslim victory through ongoing prayer, Qur'an recitation, and remembrance across the world.
- Reports progress on the community land project, requests $5,000 for engineering paperwork, and closes with prayers for afflicted regions.
In the khateeb's words
“This Qur'an was revealed with the knowledge of Allah. 10 years from now, He knew already. He revealed the Qur'an to be appropriate.”
“We recognize that we are inferior and He is superior. That He will support us. And that we are weak.”
“Every moment on the face of the earth, Someone is opening this Qur'an al-Azim and reading it.”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah recognized the Prophet’s stress when people he loved rejected his message. The khateeb explained that the Prophet’s responsibility was to deliver the warning, while Allah remained in charge of people’s affairs. He encouraged us to find reassurance in the Qur’an and to remember that wealth and fame are not the measure of success with Allah. He also pointed to people praying and reading Qur’an around the world as victories happening every moment. At the end, he shared progress on the community’s land and parking project and asked for help with the remaining civil engineer’s fee.

- What small act of worship could you give more attention to this week?
- How could our family help the community’s building project?
