Masjid etiquette honors Allah's house
“We're going to have more respect for those places than we have for the houses of Allah.”
The masjid is a sacred place of communication with Allah, so Muslims should renew its etiquette, silence, respect, and Sunnah practices and teach them to others.

For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us that the masjid deserves our respect as a house of Allah. The khateeb recalled Musa being told to remove his shoes in the holy valley to help us think about reverence for sacred places. He described the masjid as a place for prayer, remembering Allah, making du‘a, and strengthening our connection with Him. He urged us to pay attention to habits such as loud talking and scrolling on our phones, and to listen quietly during the khutbah. He also reminded us to teach children and new Muslims the manners of the masjid and to carry something we learn on Friday into the rest of our week.
- What helps you feel ready to pray when you arrive at the masjid?
- How could you help someone visiting the masjid for the first time feel welcome and learn its manners?
- What is one reminder from today’s khutbah our family could practice this week?
