Allah’s calls teach believers to live Islam

“If you maintain a life of Islam, this is the best plan.”

The khateeb, at 7:35

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Establishes taqwa, Islam at death, and righteous speech as foundational commands.
  2. Uses a phone-call analogy to frame Allah’s address to believers as a call deserving immediate attention.

  5. Emphasizes personal accountability and rejects using another person’s disobedience as an excuse.
  6. Assigns a whiteboard and memorization practice, urging listeners to answer as many calls as possible.

For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that a good life plan is to keep living in submission to Allah, so death finds us in Islam. The Qur’an repeatedly addresses believers as a loving call that deserves attention and action. These calls guide worship, personal responsibility, speech, family relationships, contracts, and how we treat the wider community. We should not excuse our own wrong choices because someone else did wrong, especially with our words. A simple way to begin is to write some of these calls on a board, see them daily, memorize them, and practice them.

  1. Which Qur’anic call would you want to remember this week, and why?
  2. What helps you pause before speaking when you are angry or jealous?
  3. How can our family show respect by avoiding assumptions, insults, and name-calling?
