The khateeb reminded us that play, distractions, appearances, showing off, and collecting more things can take over our lives. He compared these things to a beautiful harvest that eventually dries up, reminding us that this world does not last forever. Our lives continue in the hereafter, where we will be accountable to Allah. We can use the blessings we have today to do good and prepare for that lasting life, while keeping our hearts focused on Allah. Even with our faults, we have reason to hope in Allah’s forgiveness and work toward Jannah, remembering that His gifts come through His grace.
