Slow remembrance can reshape daily life

“This dunya is created for us to fulfill the commandment of Allah.”

The khateeb, at 15:25

For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us how precious it is to remember Allah, especially through the words “La ilaha illallah.” The khateeb described Musa being reminded of their great weight, even though they were familiar words. He encouraged regular remembrance, taking our time and dividing it into smaller portions when that helps. He also reminded us that everyday moments, like cooking or sitting at a desk, can make room for remembering Allah. We were encouraged to balance comfort with worship and joined in prayers for people facing hardship, including our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

  1. What could help you pay attention to the meaning of words you say often in worship?
  2. When during your day could you pause to remember Allah?
  3. Who could we pray for tonight, and what could we do to help someone having a hard time?
