Allah answers dua with wisdom

“Allah's plan was always better than your plan all along.”

The khateeb, at 8:22

In one sentence

The khutbah argues that du'a is a direct call to a near Allah, who always responds wisely, while believers must answer Him through obedient action and trust.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that closeness to Allah is at the heart of fasting and du’a. He explained that the ayah about Allah being near comes between passages about fasting and i’tikaf. Calling upon Allah does not require a beautiful speech or perfect Arabic; we can speak in our own language and bring Him our pain and hopes. Allah listens and responds, though the response may be different from what we wanted. Our part is to follow His commands and grow in trust that His plan is better than our own.

  1. What would you like to speak to Allah about in your own words today?
  2. How could we make remembering Allah’s closeness part of our family’s fasting?
  3. What could help you keep making du’a when something you want has not happened?
