For the dinner table

Reliance on Allah means knowing that every blessing, family, work, money, and food, ultimately comes from Allah. It also means taking the steps Allah has given us to take, because trust is not passivity. The stories of Musa, his mother, the Prophet after Uhud, and Qarun show both the comfort of relying on Allah and the danger of claiming credit for ourselves. We can practice this by thanking Allah, remembering Him, praying as the Prophet taught, and making a sincere effort in our responsibilities.

  1. What is one blessing you can thank Allah for today?
  2. What effort can you make this week while trusting Allah with the outcome?
  3. When might someone accidentally give all the credit to a job or their own intelligence?
