For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Paradise has many levels and that we should ask Allah for the highest, al-Firdaus al-A'la. The opening verses of Surah al-Mu'minun describe six qualities: focused prayer, avoiding useless speech, giving charity, guarding chastity, keeping promises, and praying consistently. The khateeb emphasized that focused prayer helps all the other qualities grow. He encouraged us to prepare what we will recite, pray on time, and remember Allah with our hearts. He also prayed for Muslims facing hardship and conflict in several parts of the world.

  1. What helps you focus when you pray?
  2. What kind of useless talk could we avoid this week?
  3. How can we show someone that they can trust us?
