For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Islam calls us to live with purpose and clear goals, with worshipping Allah at the heart of our lives. Even everyday things like sleeping and resting can be opportunities to seek Allah’s reward through our intentions. The khateeb encouraged us to sit together as families and write down goals for our worship, education, work, and other parts of life. He reminded us to choose goals we can actually manage and keep doing small good deeds consistently. We should ask Allah for help, keep trying when things are difficult, and remember that it is never too late to turn back to Him and begin again.

  1. How could you give something you do every day an intention that pleases Allah?
  2. What small goal could our family work on together this week?
  3. When a goal becomes difficult, what kind of help or encouragement would you like from us?
