For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah guides us toward what is good and warns us about what can harm us. The khateeb explained that shaitan seeks to mislead people, and that we should turn to Allah for protection. He encouraged us to seek Allah’s protection before reading the Quran and to recite protective du’as in the morning, evening, and before sleep, including Surahs al-Falaq and an-Nas. His account of Badr also reminded us to accept the truth even when it is difficult to hear. At the end, he encouraged us to share in others’ happiness and sadness, thank Allah for His blessings, and pray for those who are suffering.

  1. When during your day would you like to remember to ask Allah for protection?
  2. What helps you listen when the truth is different from what you hoped?
