For the dinner table

Today's khutbah asks us to notice the gap between the world's great abundance and the suffering many people still endure. It teaches that Muslims are called to encourage good and resist evil by protecting human dignity, opposing injustice, and standing against genocide and inequality. For Muslims living in America, our safety, freedom, and resources are blessings that come with responsibility. We should pursue justice through persuasion and peaceful action, never coercion. And we should do this with ahsan, beauty, excellence, and good character.

  1. Where do you notice abundance and suffering existing side by side?
  2. How could our family protect someone else's dignity this week?
  3. What would peaceful and beautiful action against injustice look like?
