True gratitude requires worship and care

“These are blessings from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that we take for granted.”

True gratitude for Allah’s blessings must be expressed through thankful speech, recognition in the heart, worship and obedience, and considerate conduct toward others.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that many things we consider ordinary, peace, food, clean water, and the ability to worship, are gifts from Allah. Real gratitude is not only saying Alhamdulillah; it also means recognizing blessings in our hearts and using our bodies to obey Allah. We should avoid wasting food and water and treat neighbors respectfully, because our conduct can either represent Islam well or create barriers to it. The speaker encouraged us to keep our prayers, learn the Prophet’s du'as, and appreciate both our worldly blessings and the gift of faith.
