True peace comes from trusting Allah
“You need to trust Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.”
True tranquility comes from trusting Allah, pursuing purposeful worship and knowledge, serving others with ihsan, and staying connected to the masjid, leading to Allah’s pleasure and Paradise.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces the tranquil soul from Surah al-Fajr and its welcome into Paradise.
- Contrasts worldly measures of success with peace through closeness to Allah.
- Presents trust, purposeful living, religious knowledge, and service through ihsan as paths to tranquility.
- Explains how good deeds, Qur’an study, and timely Jumu’ah cultivate light and sakinah.
- Emphasizes caring for the masjid and announces its parking expansion and remaining debt.
- Concludes with supplication and congregational prayer.
In the khateeb's words
“Only those who live tranquility in this life. They are granted tranquility in the next life.”
“You need to trust Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. You need to always be pleased with whatever He gave you.”
“You need to have a goal in your life. A goal that doesn't end. You can't accomplish in this dunya.”
“Bad deed will translate to a darkness to our heart. Good deeds translate to light in our heart.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb invited us to work toward becoming a tranquil soul that Allah welcomes with pleasure into His paradise. He reminded us that peace comes through closeness to Allah, rather than depending only on money, comfort, or status. He described four ways to nurture that peace: trust Allah through what we receive and what we lack, live with the purpose of pleasing Him, learn our faith, and help others. He encouraged us to reflect on our deeds and arrive early for Jumu'ah so we can benefit more fully from worship and learning together. He also asked the community to care for the masjid, including supporting repayment of its property debt and plans for safer parking and access.
- What is one thing you could do tomorrow to grow closer to Allah?
- Who could use some help or encouragement from our family this week?
- How can we help make our masjid a welcoming and cared-for place?
