For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us to prepare to meet Allah by growing our love for Him and His Messenger. The khateeb shared how the Prophet responded to a question about when Judgment Day would come by asking what the man had prepared for it. The man spoke of his love for Allah and His Messenger, and the Prophet told him he would be with whom he loved, a teaching that brought the companions great happiness. The khateeb reminded parents and children that knowing what is right does not always mean we feel connected enough to do it. He encouraged us to nurture that love so it inspires us to follow the Prophet and choose actions that bring us closer to Allah.

  1. What is one thing you love about the Prophet Muhammad, and how could you follow his example tomorrow?
  2. When does a reminder help you do the right thing, and what helps when a reminder alone is not enough?
