Success rests on Tawheed and prayer
Success in this life and the hereafter depends on preserving sincere Tawheed and establishing the five daily prayers with humility and according to the Prophet's Sunnah.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces Tawheed and the five daily prayers as the two foundations of success.
- Explains that sincerity, intention, and conduct must all seek Allah's pleasure.
- Uses Friday Fajr and the example of lifelong sujood to emphasize intention and the weight of deeds.
- Urges listeners to prioritize worship over worldly work and distractions.
- Warns that shirk nullifies deeds and stresses personal accountability before Allah.
- Calls for steadfastness in Tawheed, repentance, prayer, and learning and spreading its meaning.
In the khateeb's words
“Success in this life and the hereafter is achieved through sincere, through being sincere on Tawheed, that is worshipping Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala alone and avoiding shirk.”
“Every one of us need to make sure that he is working for his akhirah.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us to protect two foundations: Tawheed, which means worshipping Allah alone, and the five daily prayers. He explained that our belief should show in our actions and in our effort to please Allah throughout the day. He encouraged us to go to sleep asking Allah for help to stay faithful and wake for prayer, remembering that our time is precious. He also reminded us to stay humble about our worship and to think about what we have done for Allah since last Jumu'ah. As a family, we can encourage one another to pray regularly, keep learning, and ask Allah to make obedience easier.
- What is one way we can help each other prepare for prayer this week?
- What would you like to ask Allah for before going to sleep tonight?
- What does doing something for Allah's sake look like at school or at home?
